Xiaomi’s Manu Jain and Team Meets Saalumarada Thimmakka and Honours her

On the occasion of Womens Day, Xiaomi India’s Manu Jain and team met world renowned environmentalist Padma Shri Saalumarada Thimmakka and honored her. Now, this is positive news, as Smt Thimmakka is a true achiever having contributed immensely to society.

“We wanted to do something special. Our team met & honoured Smt. Saalumarada Thimmakka – 109 years old environmentalist. She has planted 8000+ trees. She was awarded Padma Shri by President of India. We planted 50 trees with her,” stated Manu Jain in an official tweet.

For the uninitiated, Thimmakka   planted and nurtured nearly 400 banyan tress across a four kilometre stretch in Karnataka. She also holds the distinction of having created forests by planting at least 9000 other variety of trees thereby contributing immensely to afforestation and the environment.

She has received various honours from across the world for her work. She rightly deserves many more recognitions. Prime Minister Modi has special affection towards Thimmakka. She was bestowed the Padma Shri in 2019 by President Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Hence, she is the epitome of dedication and devotion towards a cause.
