Since the lockdown, all the Bollywood movie releases had come to a halt as all the theatres were shut due to social distancing. Now looks like theatres are still shut but Bollywood has found a new way to release their films ie OTT. The first one was Gulabo Sitabo in Amazon Prime and since then many films have now been rescheduled to release online now.
Now as per recent Disney+Hotstar post, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Abhishek Bachchan are going to make a big announcement today. The actors will go live on their respective social media handles and there they will make the announcement. Now this gave a mixed reaction on social media as netizens pointed out the fact that even though there were 7 movies that we supposed to release on Disney Hotstar, only 5 of the movies representative were invited for the online representation ie Akshay’s #LaxmmiBomb, Ajay Devgn’s #BhujThePrideOfIndia, Sushant’s #DilBechara, Abhishek’s #TheBigBull, Alia Bhatt’s #Sadak2 leaving Vidyut Jammwal’s #KhudaHaafiz and Kunal Khemu’s #Lootcase
This was made even more clear as Vidyut Jammwal took to Twitter to express his disappointment over this. He focused on how even after late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise and day of discussion on nepotism, the wheels of nepotism still continues in the industry. He tweeted “A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES”
Director Navjot Gulati also expressed his view and wrote, “Unpopular Opinion: @DisneyPlusHS ignoring Kunal Khemu’s Lootcase and Vidyut’s ‘Khuda Haafiz’ in this announcement reeks of discriminatory behavior. A lot of people from the industry will read this and ignore it because it is an UNFAIR world” Sumit Kadel also opened up and said, “I am appalled to know that @VidyutJammwal is not invited for the online representation of his own film launch #KhudaHaafiz , nor kunal khemu got the invitation for #LootCase . Glad you raised your voice vidyut .. Unfortunately the cycle continues & nothing has changed.”
